October 19, 2025
Association of Massage Therapists (AMT)

2025 AMT Virtual Conference

Research, both as a language and a process, presents an opportunity for us to build common ground. This presentation explores engaging in research can connect massage therapy to the broader health community, helping us participate confidently and meaningfully in interprofessional care.

Through four key areas—Education, Evidence-Informed Practice, Interprofessional Education, and Readiness—participants discover practical ways to strengthen the profession’s position in healthcare. Each area offers a tangible entry point for engagement, from building research literacy to applying evidence in practice, collaborating across disciplines, and stepping into new opportunities.

Highlights include:

  • Exploring how education can cultivate curiosity and foundational research literacy

  • Considering how evidence-informed practice strengthens professional identity and credibility

  • Imagining ways interprofessional education can help students and practitioners connect across disciplines

  • Reflecting on how readiness—both individual and collective—positions the profession to seize emerging opportunities

Why it matters:

To be recognized as trusted partners in healthcare, massage therapists must show up ready, with knowledge, confidence, and curiosity.

This presentation demonstrates how engaging with research at every level—learning, practicing, collaborating, and leading—can build the common ground needed to integrate massage therapy more fully into the fabric of interprofessional care.

Never heard such good story telling & inspiration from a researcher before! Love the way you relate your talk to massage therapists.
